Matt was a tennis player and coach on the tour and begun playing padel in 2007 whilst competing in Spain. In 2010 he represented Great Britain at the World Championships and then in 2014 opened the biggest padel venue in Britain called Padel Nation.
Matt developed the profile of sport in Britain and in 2015 set up and coached the British Junior Team which finished 3rd at the World Championships only behind Spain and Argentina.
Matt was then approached to launch padel in Australia and opened Padel Sydney in 2016 with Matt Barrelle. Padel became a really popular sport in Sydney and Matt helped launch run the club in the Gold Coast in 2017.
Matt founded Padel Club Australia with Chris Browne in 2019 and their goal is to grow the sport all over Australia. Padel Sydney is their first club which will open in June 2019.
Matt has been the highest ranked player in Australia with a FIP World Ranking high of 44 and most successful player winning 8 World Ranking Events.
Matt is also the Head Coach of the Australian Men’s and Ladies team and runs all the coaching courses for the Australian Padel Federation.
Chris is the co-founder of global fashion brand Ted Baker and was it’s retail director for over 30 years.
Chris now holds several non-executive directorships and is an advocate for padel both in the UK and Australia. Chris invested in one of the first UK padel clubs with Matt called Padel Nation in Birmingham and has high hopes for the latest club in Sydney
Chris lives in Sussex in the UK and is married with 4 children. A keen rackets fan, Chris played county badminton for many years as well as padel, real tennis and lawn tennis.
